Learning Program Council

What is the Learning Program Council in computer science engineering?

The Learning Program Council (in Italian abbreviated into “CCS” – Consiglio di Corso di Studi) is the body that plans, coordinates, and manages one or more courses of study (undergraduate or graduate), typically inherent to a certain area. First and foremost, it has the task of defining their objectives, taking into account the cultural field it covers and the needs of the industry and job market. Based on these, it formulates a “manifesto” of studies, which publishes the list of courses available. It assigns the courses to the faculty members and then takes care of all the operational aspects and management of the course of study.

Who is part of the Learning Program Council?

The Council is made up of the faculty of that course of study, i.e., all faculty members who hold courses. The Council also includes the students’ delegates, who are elected by the students of that course of study and then participate in the Council’s activities as full members, with equal rights and duties. Periodically, the Council is required to elect a course of study Chair and a Secretary, who manage and coordinate activities, meetings, and all course planning and implementation.

What programs does the Council in computer science engineering manage?

It is possible for a CCS to coordinate and manage multiple degree programs, both undergraduate and graduate. In the case of the CCS of computer science engineering, in addition to the bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer engineering, we also have the master’s degree in “High Performance Computing Engineering” (HPC), which is managed by this Council although it is not a computer engineering degree, but because of the strong cohesion and disciplinary proximity with computer science. In fact, the master’s degree in High Performance Computing Engineering is a multidisciplinary program that aims to train engineers with a solid background in information technology and computer architectures for supercomputing, quantum computing, and mathematical-statistical modeling of complex problems. Finally, CCS in computer science engineering is also responsible for the “IOL”, the online computer science engineering degree.
